My Story: Rebecca Edmonds Hypnotherapist in Herefordshire & Worcestershire: Hereford and Malvern
I am a qualified and experienced hypnotherapist with face to face clinics in two locations: Hereford and Malvern. I cover the whole of Herefordshire and Worcestershire from these locations.
I also offer online appointments for those who cannot see me for reasons of their health, mobility, location or convenience.
I work with clients of all ages: from children as young as 6, to adults of 94 years old. Each year, I see hundreds of clients looking for help with a wide range of issues, from anxiety & stress through to phobias & sports performance. You can find great reviews from former clients on my Home Page and Testimonials Page.
I have a Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy (DHP) from the Clifton Practice in Bristol. To reassure you, I am registered with the leading professional organisations in this field. These are the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) and the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH).
In addition, I have full professional liability insurance and an enhanced CRB
Why did I become a hypnotherapist?
Back in 2013, I was diagnosed with early onset arthritis. The pain was so severe that I turned down a dream job in Cornwall. As you can imagine, this was a bitter blow. There was no way of knowing if the pain was going to subside to a manageable level. As a result, my mood plummeted like the proverbial stone.
I simply didn’t know where to turn. In sheer desperation, I contacted a local hypnotherapist and briefly explained how I was feeling.
Attending hypnotherapy sessions regularly for the next few months, the benefits became swiftly obvious. My perception of pain reduced using relaxation and visualisation techniques. Then I saw my situation as an opportunity, not a threat. Because hypnotherapy helped me so much, I decided to train as a hypnotherapist myself. It was clear that hypnotherapy could help people of all ages and for many different issues.
I wanted to train with the best clinical hypnotherapists in the UK, so I studied and qualified at the Clifton Practice in Bristol.
Early Professional Life before I became a Therapist
I grew up in Hereford, and went to Oxford University, where I obtained a degree in English Language and Literature.
Qualified and trained as a Criminal Defence Barrister
I moved to London and later became a barrister, which was highly pressured and stressful. I was under constant pressure to get good results for my clients, many of whom were at risk of going to prison. In addition, I also faced the fiercely competitive environment of the courtroom. In every way, my professional life was challenging and demanding. Being calm under pressure was essential, so that I could perform consistently to a high level.
This experience as a barrister is especially helpful and relevant when I am helping clients who have fears of public speaking and giving presentations. It also helps me to understand clients with highly pressured jobs who are struggling to cope.
Moved back to Hereford
I moved back to Hereford in 2003. One of my most interesting jobs before I decided to become a hypnotherapist was as a Corporate Spokesperson. I was interviewed many times by the national and international media, appearing on ITV Central News and on Radio 2 with Jeremy Vine.
Once again, I had to keep cool under pressure, and stay calm in the face of hostile questions.
Importance of Mental Strength and Resilience
My professional background and life experience of living with chronic pain has taught me valuable lessons. Our mental approach is so important when it comes to dealing with day to day challenges.
Clinical hypnotherapy has offered me a new and positive way to deal with my own issues. I hope that I can share its tremendous benefits with you too!
Rebecca Edmonds Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy
In 2014, having completed my training, I took the plunge and set up my own hypnotherapy & psychotherapy practice. Since then I have helped hundreds of satisfied clients.
I conduct consultations in 3 different ways: face to face, over the telephone and online over Zoom, WhatsApp & Skype. All these methods are just as effective as each other, because the therapies I offer are talking therapies. Provided we are able to communicate freely, and you can find somewhere comfortable to sit or lie down during the session, then the therapy achieve its objectives.
I run clinics three days a week in Hereford (Monday to Wednesday) and one day a week in Malvern (Friday). In this way I can offer my services to clients across the whole of Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
